Apple unveils $1,999 foldable iPhone Duo, with sales starting October 23

Apple introduced the iPhone Duo, its first foldable smartphone, in Cupertino, California, on September 9, 2026. The device will start at $1,999 in the United States, with pre-orders opening on October 16 and initial sales beginning on October 23.

The phone folds closed around a 5.4-inch outer screen and opens to a 7.6-inch inner display. Apple says it uses the A20 Pro chip and an adapted version of iOS 27 to support the larger screen and multitasking. The launch gives Apple an entry into a market where rival manufacturers already sell folding phones. Apple said the first release would cover more than 70 countries and regions, followed by 28 additional markets on October 30, 2026. The announced US price should not be read as an Ethiopian retail price.
