Ipswich Town complete signing of Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu from Leicester

Ipswich Town have completed the permanent signing of Ghana international winger Abdul Fatawu from Leicester City, adding another attacking option ahead of the 2026-27 Premier League season.

The transfer was confirmed on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. Sky Sports reported the deal at £23 million, although the clubs did not publicly disclose a fee in the material available at the time of writing.

Fatawu moves to Portman Road after spending the previous three seasons with Leicester. He initially joined the Foxes on loan from Sporting CP for the 2023-24 campaign and helped them win promotion from the Championship. Leicester then made the move permanent in July 2024.

The winger remained with Leicester through their subsequent Premier League and Championship campaigns. His move gives Ipswich a player with experience in both of England’s top two divisions as the club prepares for its return to the top flight.

For Leicester, the transfer represents the departure of a prominent attacking player during the summer rebuilding period. Ipswich, meanwhile, are strengthening a squad that earned promotion at the end of the 2025-26 season.

The Premier League summer transfer window opened on June 15 and is scheduled to close at 11 p.m. British Summer Time on September 1, 2026.
