Josh Kerr wins Ultimate Championship 1500m in Budapest

Josh Kerr won the men’s 1500m at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest on September 13, 2026, finishing in 3 minutes 29.35 seconds and earning the $150,000 winner’s prize, according to The Guardian’s race report.

The British runner moved forward on the final lap and passed Yared Nuguse with about 250 metres remaining. Australia’s Cameron Myers pursued him to the finish, taking second place 0.33 seconds behind.

The victory added another title to Kerr’s season, following gold medals over 3000m at the World Indoor Championships and over the mile at the Commonwealth Games.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen did not contest the 1500m final after winning the championship’s 5000m on September 11, 2026. Kerr’s result therefore represents a separate development from the earlier distance final.
